Hernando County’s Public Warrant Page Has a Three-Day Delay
The HCSO Local Warrants Report lists people wanted on active outstanding Hernando County warrants, but the Sheriff’s page says active-warrant information is delayed three days before posting.
The same official page also says HCSO does not give warrant information over the telephone.

Hernando County Jail Property Has Strict Drop-Off and Release Rules
The jail no longer accepts several common personal-care items from family members because those items are available through commissary. Reading glasses, contact solution and denture products are among items the current property page says are no longer accepted from ordinary outside drop-offs.
Contact lenses must come directly from a verified vision center or eye doctor. Shoes require a doctor’s order and must be sent from a verified retailer. Medical prostheses and medications require prior medical approval.
Release property to a family member
An inmate must complete and sign the jail’s Property Release Form. The designated person must pick up the property within five business days.
The inmate generally must release property that is not in immediate possession, while one complete set of clothing is retained for eventual release.
Money release
The current jail property page says an inmate may release money once during incarceration, but at least $50 must remain in the inmate account.
Request Hernando Sheriff Reports and Body-Camera Video
The HCSO Public Records Unit processes incident reports, local records checks, address searches, body-worn-camera footage and other records maintained by the Sheriff’s Office.
The online Public Records Request Portal accepts submissions at any time. The current HCSO page says a requester can use “Anonymous” as the account name, but a valid email address is required for the online request system.

The Sheriff’s current records page lists a processing charge of $35.52 per hour for body-worn-camera video. The invoice is based on video length and must be paid before fulfillment.
